Why North East has no separate published price
The official UK series is a single national observation. It is priced on the Monday nearest the fifteenth of the month, for deliveries up to 1,000 litres, with VAT at 5% included. There is no regional breakdown behind it, and nobody else publishes one for Great Britain either.
Sites that show you a regional price for a GB region are showing you either a national figure with a regional label on it, or a set of quotes collected from sellers. This page does the first of those and says so, which is the only honest version of it.
The local geography, and what it does to a delivery
The county is large, the population is coastal and the oil houses are inland. A round from a Tyneside depot to the Cheviot fringe is a long way for a handful of tanks.
Delivery
Round length is the whole story. Suppliers here are more likely to offer a scheduled delivery day for a district and less likely to offer a same-week will-call, and taking the scheduled day is usually the cheaper option.
Ordering here
Ask the depot which day of the month the tanker runs your postcode area, and order to fit that. It is a bigger lever on price here than shopping between suppliers.
